Or they could optimize their code to make it run more efficiently, allowing more detail. The point is that it runs now with an amazing level of detail and they still have a year to work on it. That's an amazing achievement.
If you watch the video, they address this notion directly. It is the same model, textures and shading used for both.

That's what I'm saying, they did post gameplay. Some people are mistaking actual gameplay for pre-rendered cinematics.
