I'm just gonna copy and paste from another comment:

Plus who cares if this are YouTubers or journalists? They have influence and we live in damn 2014 where journalists on NEWS NETWORKS reporting about things that affect people much more than videogames are being questioned.

It's the same ethics problem
* the companies are being unethical by buying positive commentary and influence on consumers (a.k.a you're being lied to)
* YouTubers are being unethical by receiving money to modify their honest opinion (a.k.a You're being lied on, again)
If your indignation really arise because of lack of

Nice way to rationalize it
it's the same damn ethics problem. If you are concerned about ethics you shpuld be concerned about this too. They are lying to people any way
Except they weren't really concerned about ethics lol

*sits and waits for those angry, angry warriors of "ethics in game journalism" to appear with the same rage they did with the whole Zoe Quinn issue*

So Youtubers are being paid to advertise a game.... Why would they be allowed to say anything negative about it? Would you make a commercial pointing out a flaw in a product you were selling? No. Welcome to America and capitalism. I see no problem here.

I mean, the fact that their reaction is "I'll kill/rape you you bitch" probably shows how invested they are in the status quo.

All they do is argue that she's taking things out of context, or that "protecting" someone is ONLY noble and not potentially limiting for the protectee's actual narrative.

The big thing is they prefer to say tropes are "bad writing," instead of saying that bad writing has really clear connections to devaluing women's

Since the accusations of her "conning" people have little actual merit beyond someone claiming her character is compromised, I don't see why this has an actual impact on whether her WORK deserves an award or not.

And the problem is that the person who called most likely used this assessment of her character in their

"Playing the victim" as you say is a truly dangerous statement to make, as it implies that those who are threatened benefit from it and are not actually hurt, when in fact you have no evidence for this except your own judgement.

I hope you realize how ironic it is to claim a feminist has "balls" as a sign of courage, when most of feminism would point out that heralding masculine traits as as a sign of strenth or "normal" is exactly the kind of bias they struggle to make people reject in the world.

You know, there is a way to see "The Boy Who Cried Wolf" differently.

I had low expectations going into Mr. Torgue's DLC pack for BL2. Holy crap was I wrong. Mr. Torgue is the best.

I mean, I like her videos because they are well-produced, but it really isn't anything revolutionary or that should seem shocking to people.

I doubt it. This is just ridiculous. I've always wondered why she got so much hate— it's not like she's saying things that haven't been pointed out before and she says them in literally the softest, nicest way possible.

Man, I watched her videos and she starts off by saying, 'It's okay to like these games, it's okay to play these games, there's nothing wrong with liking and playing these games' and simply goes on to /show people what is in the games/. I never in my wildest imagination thought that she would get so much hate. I LOVE

Apparently her original series about tropes in general was already drawing a little attention from sexist sites and blogs, despite being tame feminist critiques, so I'm guessing that nobody suspected the huge mountain of BS that would be unleashed. But apparently her starting a Kickstarter for $6000 (for the current

When someone emails a convention threatening violence due to the presence of a noted feminist, then in the absence of any reason to conclude otherwise, it makes perfect sense to assume the culprit was a person angry at her receiving an award. If someone threatened to blow up a building because Barack Obama was there,

Sounds like a load of conspiracy twaddle. Plus, the fact the she predicted that she'd get death threats from the gaming community says alot more about the gaming community than it does about Anita.

Conservative feminists is an euphemism for "anti feminist woman" since their only stance boggles down to "feminism movement isn't needed. Everything is ok and equal."

(Meanwhile, at the evil fortress of Game-Hating Feminism)

Totilo: I did just as you commanded, my mistress! I posted the story about the bomb threat on the same day a conservative feminist critic said something else about video games!

Anita: Excellent! With Kotaku under my evil feministy grasp of evil! I can continue
