I was talking about digital sales obviously.
The problem here lies within you wanting to push your system to the limits, which is a great thing btw, and not with PC gaming itself.

Maybe for games like Elder Scrolls were the game consistently loads similar content around your character it might be worth it?
You only need one decent GPU per generation as well if you want to play console quality level.
