... Uh, no. What you are doing goes FAR further than generalities. You are missing his point. He was talking about CGI (the specific technique.) He was stating that cgi (the specific technique) is an over-used crutch in hollywood. I happen to agree with this opinion. You don't? Fine.

You can't do that. CGI is a specific technique. You can't use it to describe the HISTORY of special effects. You are misusing the term for paragraphs at a time and it makes my teeth hurt.
CGI and green screen are two different things. While you do use computer technology in green screen style alpha key video amalgamation these days, the term Computer Generated Imagery implies that at least one part of the image onscreen has been completely made from scratch out of the digital eather.
