Ummmm., no. Honda’s had much better panel gaps, much better paint quality. They also had design that felt higher quality - look at the smoother transition where the hood, door, and A-pillar come together on an 80's Accord. Now zoom in on that area in the picture of that Dodge Aries. The Dodge has a jog in the door

Agree, and add that the ‘87-89 Accord Coupe was beyootiful. A regular-person’s 4-passenger car with the low nose of a Ferrari and a greenhouse that could have been styled by Bertone.

So, if you want a new rear-wheel drive, manual transmission sedan, your choices are .... nothing.

Front-wheel drive, though. May as well get a GTI.

Ah. I didn’t realize. So Jag is the last car standing?

The new E53 with the inline-6 is the one I’ve currently got a stiffie for. It seems just the right amount of fast for a street car. And the sound of an inline-6 is always niiiiiiice.

If you’re stuck with an automatic, may as well be stuck with a good one.

Yeah, I’m super disappointed at this move, but I expected to be thoroughly disappointed by the new 3-series in its entirety. I daily-drove various 3-Series models for 15 years, but no more.

Yeah, this exactly. This is just a hot mess.

Yeah, to me this new one is remarkably ugly, and the outgoing one isn’t. There’s a lot of surfacing and weird cutlines on this new one that lack rhythm and harmony.

I also love this Thum guy getting on his moral high horse and being like “I just can’t abide the horrible immoral lies in the eBay ad” when it appears he’s also structured this whole deal to fool his wife’s divorce lawyer.

^^^ This. So far, nothing from the LFA has ended up in other production Toyotas. The 959 is the parent of a whole bloodline, whereas the LFA was ... barren.

Ah, but the Viper version that was just discontinued - that car is really special. Totally agree that it’s a collectors item, especially in ACR form.

I can pretty much guarantee that I’d be happier sleeping on a futon in the back of a Ferrari Lusso T than living in my house.

Same. They depreciate hilariously, too, and look like kind of a bargain at $150k. “Bargain” in quotes, of course.

Meh. That’s what the warranty is for. By the time you’ve had the car for 3 years we’ll see some real-world data on whether they specc’ed these components well enough.

I’ve been racing 944s for a while. Conventional wisdom is that it matters above 80 MPH. We’ve done testing with and without the rear hatch on the car, and things feel very different above 60.

^^^^ This.

Look at the size of that carb and fuel line, and tell me if you think it’s really making 350 at the crank. I’d also expect an MSD box bolted to the firewall if you’re trying to make that kind of power.
