I can’t think of a better use for an FWD Monte Carlo.

Peak Monte Carlo was ‘75-76. “Rallye” wheels, round headlights, 454 cubes....and the velour swivel seats so Guido and Becky could freak up on Lovers’ Lane.

Scroll down. One went for $20k in December.
Well played.
Speaking of Porsche 912s, you can apparently still get one of those for $20k.
Indeed. It’s getting to be a good place to sell cars, not such a great place to buy cars. (Although the comments section provides crowdsourced due diligence, which is a genuine value-add.)
Infiniti is also doing the glowing-emblem thing, also. Given Infiniti’s lower brand value, I’d nominate that as even tackier than the Benz implementation.
Or how about...
There’s zero steering feel. Also, they managed to make it darty and yet quick to understeer. I really hate it when cars are tuned to “feel sporty” in the first 45 degrees of steering but plow like a tractor when you load up the front tires.
They have lost their magic since the R5/R6.
Yeah, but “fitness for purpose.” Nobody needs their 3500-lb crossover to be a good track car. The people that need this car need it to put their newborns to sleep in the back seat.
The new GMC’s are pretty darn nice.
Ah. I did not catch that part. No, still basically crap to drive. The Mercedes GLA is an cynical little badge-whore-box, but it has more steering feel and a better ride/handling tradeoff than the Countryman.
I’d also rejoice if this thing suddenly revives the old BMW handling-and-feel magic. But something tells me it won’t.
If I replaced those BMW roundels with Mercedes 3-pointed stars, and put a GLA badge on the back, I wonder what percentage of people would be fooled?
Totally agree.
Mechanical LSD on a front-wheel-drive car tends to create understeer on corner entry. Many people don’t like the tradeoff (I personally do).
It really doesn’t matter. Nobody gives a rat’s ass about which engine your Benz has except car guys and gold diggers. And *all* the car guys and gold diggers know that a 63 is a half-a-Mercedes more money than a 43.
I’m told yes, and it will be badged as a 450.
