True, although based on the couple of spot checks I’ve done, McLaren parts/service costs make Ferraris look downright reasonable. And damn near *every* part is bespoke, so forget cross-referencing your busted alternator with a cheaper Bosch or Magneti Marelli replacement.

10/10 can confirm. We once ran an entire Lemons race without disengaging the clutch because we just couldn’t face doing the replacement job pre-race.

Same with the Jag xj220, F40, and F50.

Doesn’t warp with temperature change, is the reason I’ve been given.

Can we get that in high-res and framed? I’d like that on my office wall as #squadgoals.

Me too. But apparently they call the CLA the “Coupe” in places where they sell the A-Class hatchback.

Humans have great transportation technology compared to animals. But send a couple of us out in the wilderness, and we’re still vulnerable to scorpions, snakes, tigers, bears, sea urchins, and other things that lash out when threatened.

Huh? The 850 didn’t come out until 1993, and the 850R not until ‘95. And by that point there were *plenty* of fast production automatics, including the 993TT, E36 M3, and the M540i.

You weren’t wrong. Once they got the LT1 in, the Corvette was a legitimate 5.x-seconds to 60 car with a >150 MPH top end. That was right on par with a 964 or 944 Turbo and faster than an Esprit or 308QV.

Goddamn right!

The Avro Vulcan might be the right plane. Big bomber, but surprisingly fast and survived a number of dogfights.

*OEM* replacements are costly if you buy them *new*. But there’s plenty of aftermarket support for the R129, so you get the knockoff parts on Amazon.com and eBay. The R129 had high production numbers, too, so there are plenty of used parts kicking around the ‘net, too.

True, true.

She looks like the murdering type, but I’d count it as a good death.

Sweet! That body kit actually makes the Supra look lighter and more elegant. When’s that last time you saw that happen?

Literally true. My BMW mechanic has a paid-for house, at least 4 BMWs (including 2 perfect-condition original M6s that are appreciating nicely), and his eldest boy is going to UC Berkeley.

Holy crap. That’s a hilarious failure mode.

+1.

I remember reading that, yeah. Such a sad waste of art.
