I’m sure it’s uncomfortable as hell, and I’m sure everyone is walking on pins and needles. You would think that in circumstances like this there would be some clear ethics or procedural guidlines for how either party should act under these circumstances, though.

It happens all the time in prosecutor’s offices and Sheriff’s offices. It’s the sort of job where you have to already be there to be qualified to work there. That’s not always true, but it’s common.

I’m not unsympathetic to your larger point, but comparing college to work in this context isn’t a reasonable comparison. Most people are employed in an “at-will” circumstance, meaning they can be fired for any reason, except belonging to a protected class. If Crispin punched Softbrush and knocked out two teeth

For the most part, companies can dismiss anyone for any reason; colleges cannot. Unless you have a contract for your job your company can fire you for any reason other than a discriminatory one.

Thank you!

Thank you!

That’s what I have right now. They’re just inconvenient when I have to show ID.

It’s not credit cards I’m concerned with.

I live in Washington State and I got the “enhanced driver’s license” because the TSA keeps threatening to make it so you can’t use a standard driver’s license from Washington to board a plane. Apparently the regular driver’s licenses here don’t meet federal standards and the

Do any of these have RFID protection?

Here’s one, and I’m not sure if it’s true or not: “Getting a flu shot ultimately weakens your immune system because it didn’t have to ‘work’ to defend you against flu. Much in the same way anti-bacterials weaken your immune system.”

“Hope it pays for a maid.”

Yes, actually.

Go to hell! Triscuts are clearly the best.

I’ve done sous vide duck confit before, and it is easier and less expensive than the regular method. With the vacuum sealed bag, you don’t need nearly as much duck fat as you do when you cook it the traditional method.

Why has no one made a yeast infection joke yet?

You really have to spend an entire season here, with everyone and everything wrapped up in the 12th Man Flag, to really, truly get how horrible we are.

The dark side really ages you.

It’s like a warm shower on a cold day.

You’re mixing your psychology metaphors. The Millgram experiments are the electric shock ones. The Stanford Prison Experiment is when they turn average Stanford students into sociopaths.

No, no, no. The menu is very much the point. If they say yes to home cooked dinner at your place, you may well be on the train to Sexytown, but the menu can definitely derail the train.

Given the scarcity of tenured positions these days, I don’t know how relevant your point is. A vocal college student or students could definitely derail the career of an adjunct.
