If trans actors are only allowed to play trans characters, it’s unlikely that there will ever be enough work for more than a handful to make a living. I don’t think it’s right to compare tan white people playing minorities to a trans man playing female parts. For one, it’s not an instance of people with more

For sure. I have no idea how far along Elliot is in his journey, I’m just assuming that if he’s ready to come out publically, that he’s known he’s trans for long enough that he’s accepted roles for female characters even after he began accepting who he is.

It’s a matter of degree. Elliot has always skewed a little androgynous looks wise. Unless he chooses to do some facial reconstruction surgery to make his face more traditionally masculine, he can probably play both ways depending on how he’s styled.

I need to find a new shower gel purveyor. I just love their scents so much. :(“

No you don’t have to have surgery to be trans. You don’t even have to be on hormone therapy. You’re confusing gender with sex. This isn’t an issue of biology, it’s about their true selves and revealing that truth to the world.  Surgery, hormone therapy and cosmetic surgery is about seeking to make their appearance

I see no reason why not.  He’s been a trans man for his entire career.  The only difference is that we know it now.  Whether he will continue to want to play female characters now that he’s shared his truth remains to be seen, but I have no problems with trans actors playing a full spectrum of characters gender wise.

Why? If you don’t like him in that role fine, but given that there’s no shortage of cis men playing both trans and cis women (hello John Travolta and Tyler Perry), why shouldn’t Elliot continue playing a cis woman if he wants to? It’s not like there’s a shortage of female roles and that trans men crowding women out

Plus it’s nice to see a good trans story on a bit of a shitty day over here for trans rights as it turned out the cosmetics company “Lush” have been secretly funding anti-trans groups and the High Court ruled against puberty blocker access today because people under 18 are considered unable to give informed consent

Yeah, have people forgotten that the last Democratic admin’s senior staff team started out as such a toxic sausage party that Obama had to apologize for it in his recent book?  This is a big step forward.

Of course, but there was no reason for them to use that phrase. They weren’t evangelical, Mormon, etc or overtly conservative to justify it,

That might have been a forced bit of dialogue, but it said everything.  Calling someone being a lesbian “an unfortunate lifestyle choice” is overtly homophobic. It may not have the shock value of using homophobic slurs, but it’s the same thing just dressed up in more gentile language.

Sloane is just as awful as Harper, if not worse, she deserves to be lower on your list.

I would say the biggest red flag was how Harper wasn’t just afraid to come out to her parents (which, fair because our parental relationships are complicated AF) but the fact that there was no one in her home life she was out to. No friends, not her sisters... that was weird.

I first found her as Shawnee in Veep.

At this point isn’t it your fault for expecting anything at all from Catherine?

If it were, Junior would still be COVID free.  Plus I think Giuliani is more of a drunk than a cokehead.

Side note: the best thing about this story was introducing me to the Fated Mates podcast. It’s been keeping me company today as I cook Thanksgiving dinner, and it’s an absolute delight. Thanks Kelly!

It was something he said to Bob Woodward and was included in a lot of the write ups of Woodward’s book that focused on Jared, such as this one by NYMag

Jared’s comment about the dangers of overconfident idiots was a breathtaking bit of lack of self awareness.  I can’t wait until that asshole as far away from government as we can get him.

Learning that Stacey Abrams was a romance writer during the first TV appearance I ever watched with her was all it took to convince me she was cool. Glad to hear the community is giving her the support she deserves.
