Youll be able to play, you just wont be able to link your steam account. As far as I know, if you play the single player, and then later attach your steam stuff, it'll just update it (aka: you won't lose out on steam achievements and such).

As someone who has both XBL and a PS3, I think its pretty dumb either way to complain about hiccups in a free service, or "show off" that you're preferred service is still working. If you enjoy it, go play it. Don't be a little jerk about it.
