I agree its disgusting, but back to the point, consoles were created for gaming alone in mind, and things have changed and adapted over time. Did you ever realized gaming PC's are basically current consoles? Especially with Live now having the internet and such.

It's all about ergonomics, functionality comes as new demand asks. You won't have a controller that can do everything, until said everything is developed and put into widespread use.

It shouldn't have been ported to the PS3 in the first place, Bethesda is starting to make mistakes and trip over themselves, which they weren't always known for doing. Maybe it's the MMO that they are putting too much towards.
