I think there's some merit in the Japanese way of acknowledging one another, without necessarily acknowledging one another.

Isn't that Howard in the Collector's bubble at 1:12? Or is that some other duck?
It's interesting to me how very haggard they are making the cast of the Walking Dead up to be. Darryl in particular looks like he's aged decades in the few years they've been on the run. It forces me to wonder just how long you can live like that, even if a zombie never gets you.
DIG
Yup, that's the one.
They spoke of him only in hushed tones, wary that someone might be listening. Part of the in-store signage was apparently DVD player with legs, eyes and arms that looked a lot like the Penny Arcade character.
Sweet zombie Jesus, is that the Robin Sparkles robot?
That's okay... iomega's JAZZ drives (like a ZIP drive, but with more GBs! Gots ta haves yer GBs) liked to spontaneously catch fire. Those were fun times!
I worked at Circuit City a few years after the DIVX debacle—for those who don't know, CC went full hook-line-and-sinker for this junk, eventually buying all the rights to it so that they were the exclusive US carrier (I think), and then it went down like a hydrogen zeppelin flying over an erupting volcano.
Any tips on how to do this in person? I made a COLOSSAL idiot of myself when I met Jonathan Coulton at PAXEast a few years ago, and I've sworn off celebrity interaction until I figure out a better way to not feel like a grinning idiot.
The artificial womb. I remain convinced that this will do more to change the world and human society for the better than any other potential technology. Separating both woman and child from the difficulties and dangers of pregnancy and childbirth has the potential to do amazing things for our ability to continue to…
Harry is pretty much always outclassed and outgunned. I think it does get slightly better as the books go on, because Harry's power level grows and he starts to be able to go toe-to-toe with some of the bigger baddies that come his way. Honestly though I'm not sure, because I've never seen it quite through that lens.
I have a lot of the same complaints about modern fantasy, actually. Endings, as it turns out, are hard. I've known how my current series ends for a couple of years, though, and it definitely suits the story I've been telling. Now it's just about telling it properly... I hope I can do it justice.
Starred for the 'gives him the shaft' wordplay. Well done.
I've discovered that having some kind of finished outline is absolutely, 100% key to my finishing a novel-length book. If I try to jump in before the outline has a beginning, middle and end, I will end up throwing away 25,000-50,000 words when I realize that I'm writing the wrong damn story.

He might live in a city. I've seen that assumption a lot—that everyone drives maybe once a week and takes the train for the rest of the time.
I maintain that Momoa nailed the look and general attitude for Conan, if you go back and look at the source material. I just wish the film had been, y'know, good in any other aspect at all.
