First-person is fairly common in the urban fantasy genre. Perhaps the first example that comes to my mind is The Dresden Files by Jim Butcher. Everything's told from the first-person perspective of Harry Dresden, Chicago's only professional wizard... sometimes to fascinating effect, especially later on.

Just a guy who grew up with a musically-inclined father and too many Disney movies =)

Are they keeping it a musical? Because that would be awesome, regardless of who they cast. There aren't nearly enough musicals these days.

I'm glad it turned out to be good! I saw a preview for it when I went to see The Hobbit and found myself interested, so I'll probably check it out. =)

Right, right! Man, it's been years since I read that series... I should probably pick it back up!

The main character from Piers Anthony's "Wielding A Red Sword" has this, or something like it. He ends up communicating mostly through song. I'm pretty sure it would make an awesome musical. =)

They look like they're sculpted using an improved version of the tech that did my Enterprise action figures from several years back. It's eerie how much the thing I have looks like Scott Bakula. Eerie.

If your hands are cold and dead, they've probably eaten their way out. Just sayin'. =)

Amusingly enough, I remember hearing that the S-M-R-T gag actually came about because Dan Castellaneta actually made that mistake during a recording session, and they liked it so much that they put it in. Could be apocryphal, though, not sure.

Me too! I LOL'd! Genuinely LOL'd! =)

Okay, that second alien dude with the glowing arm-sword? That's awesome.

I really can't wait to see what the world is going to be like when the 3D-Printer finally reaches this status. I'm trying to pay close attention so that I don't miss the gradual shift that goes from it being sort of a weird and obscure technology to an everyday appliance. I'm pretty sure it's going to be awesome.

I guess this doesn't really surprise me. Even educated people that I know talk seriously about how this arctic chill that's hanging over NH right now must mean that global warming doesn't exist. It makes my head hurt.

That's a spoon. =)

You bet! I love my io9 articles =) Always happy to lend a hand.

I'm pretty sure that Jim Cummings could sound like ANYONE. The man's definitely in Mel Blanc's league, even if he's not as well recognized.

What an awesome list! I just noted a couple of things... I'm pretty sure that "Heffalumps and Woozles" was in Winnie the Pooh, not Dumbo.

The beginning of the STC—the pinnacle of mankind's technological achievement. =) http://warhammer40k.wikia.com/wiki/Standard_Template_Construct_%28STC%29

Which Enterprise? Specificity is important here, if I'm risking my life on the matter =)

Wow, has it really been five years? I remember the launch announcement for io9, the logo reveal, and being psyched that there was going to be a place for sci-fi and fantasy of all stripes. For all of those years, io9 has been one of my primary sources for sci-fi news and opinion. I come by here several times a day,
