I never said he was willing to just flippantly kill the guy, that only happened when he felt he was forced to according to what the film showed. Right after it happens, he screams and doesn't look happy about it. So doing it from the get go wasn't going to be his approach.

Zod was just as powerful as Clark, suggest how you would draw the fight away, because Zod would do his best to keep it there to harm as many people as he could. That sucks, but the box does tell you. It only takes a minute to examine the item you're buying before getting it wrapped.

The box does inform, in a yellow box with red writing in it on the front. So all it takes is a second to figure it out when you're about to buy it.
