@Joe Stoner: PZ's job is pretty much arguing on the internet. Or rather, writing blog posts that disembowel anything that doesn't agree with very hard edged rational humanism and "Big A" atheism. He's a biologist with a huge chip on his shoulder. Entertaining, but sometimes the sciency stuff gets a little too

@olugbam: It's not because it's one guy. It's because it's Ray Kurzweil. He got nerd famous before the internet for the keyboards he created (as in the ones bearing his last name), then veered into futurism "The Age of Spiritual Machines".

I really like that the screenshot of the Youtube vid shows the iPhone prototype way huge, but in smaller (much smaller in comparison) type? "Civil Rights Activist Dorothy Height dies."

@25toLife: Wait till you get married.

@zimbabwaenquadrillionare: You just think there's no crime. I grew up in a pretty well to do town, and I talked to a cop once (while she was giving us shit for skateboarding somewhere) and she told us our quiet hamlet was quite the den of domestic violence, theft, prescription drug abuse, etc...

@mitraxis: Use of technology to record cops behaving badly. Getting ass beat by cop for using a cellphone. Also, Giz is part of the liberal, leftist media elite, so any time they can punch a few holes in the draconian power structure, they do it.

Some of Build's stuff I really like, some not so much. They seem to have picked up the baton after The Designer's Republic dropped off.

@mnerd: Not coincidentally, also designed by Build.

I recently inherited a Dual turntable and Marantz tuner/preamp from my grandparents (both deceased). So some tech is worth passing on. Also got some records worth saving, the original manuals, and the receipts. Some gear is worth passing along. I can't imaging passing along my laptop to later generations.

@LoganSix: There was only so much of it I could take, and I was being forced to do it. Books I enjoy, I'll tear through in a very short time. Books with 40 page monologues? I'll take my time.

I've read Ayn Rand, thanks. The Fountainhead wasted a large amount of summer reading I could have been spending on books I enjoyed, going into 12th grade.

@Bluecell: As a fellow Canadian, I'm sure you realize that Timmy Ho's is trademarked, and for 6 grand I'm pretty sure they couldn't afford to spend any of that on licensing?

@Plague: So it's True Blood Season 6?

@protodite: That's what I was referring to. When the first gen iPhone was released, then a 200(?) dollar price drop was announced later, people got mad, said screw Apple, all that.

@Insecur1tyGuard: I'd take that as a cold, harsh lesson in the perils of early adoption. I haven't upgraded my 3g to the new one. My attitude when new tech is announced? "We'll see." And once I've made my purchase, I have a "no regrets" policy when something newer comes out. Because something newer always comes

@Live_free: Think back, way back (centuries in Internet time) to the first iPhone release. Then fast forward 4 months. Remember what happened? People were mad, then they got over it.

@dnwilliams: I love that Spike Jonze still owns Girl Skateboards.

@TheNobleRobot: Nope, it's this medium's inability to properly communicate what one says, vs. what one means. Hence, you get people arguing with each other when in reality they're actually agreeing. I get by that by mentally reading every comment in a Gilbert Gottfried voice. That way, everyone comes off as equally

@SEDAGIVE?!: YES! Now that is forward thinking!

@TheNobleRobot: It's beauty in simplicity. Form following function, as opposed to the other way around. Your lack of appreciation for it is subjective, just as my enjoyment of it is.
