Basically, you give as many people doctorates as you possibly can ... and then you hire all of the racist, sexist, inappropriate ones and give them tenure. Everyone else subsists on somewhere between $500-4K per class while also working minimum wage jobs and regretting their life decisions.

Somehow, despite this

I can't stand this idea that "specialization" means "anything outside my field of study is worthless/useless to me."

That all sounds great, but as someone who was the first person to go away to college (my mom had taken some classes at a local public university but never graduated), these tiny liberal arts colleges never seemed particularly welcoming from the outside.

The allergy one makes me remember yet again why my brother and sister-in-law have a fondness for Disney.

This case has not failed to make me sick, hopeless, and full of rage for the past three years. It boggles the mind that anyone could, with all earnestness, that the victim was the bad person in this. The details remain the same but hurt with every repetition.

I think it's probably a little unfair to talk about the "general mindset of men in India when it comes to rape" as if it's a mindset that is culturally unique to Indian men, but I say that as an Indian who thinks that we're probably more unfair to countries mostly made up of brown people on issues like this than we

I've been enjoying the show, but I have to say I wish it was actually longer - a full hour. I think sometimes the panel portion/discussions feel too short. The keep it 100 is segment is funny, but sometimes I'd prefer it if they continued the panel discussion instead.

I love this show to pieces but I'm hearing too many people say it isn't funny. Some aspects of the comedy fall flat, but I think it's because it's a new show. Don't forget, It took Colbert several months to become the Colbert we know today. At the very beginning, it wasn't really funny at all.

I just want to clarify terminology here to make sure we're on the same page. Attraction is not the same thing as arousal. You can be attracted to someone without experiencing sexual arousal and vice versa. It iscompletely within the normal range of experience to require more than visual stimulation to become sexually

Not my story, but my parents' - somewhat similar to the Bush Tale of Woe:

I'm somewhat picky when it comes to eating off the bone. It has to be good enough to be worth it, so beef ribs and any on-the-bone steak are automatically ok, but I prefer boneless "wings" over the regular kind. Not saying I'd turn down a plate if it were put in front of me, just that I wouldn't order it myself.

Starbucks, middle of the afternoon. Exam week. Everyone is tired, but there is a lull in the action for once.

I was at a coffeeshop with a friend the other day, and she ordered a giant chocolate-covered rice krispie square. I asked if I could have a piece, and knowing I try (and fail) to avoid gluten the following conversation happens:

This one comes via my husband, who this actually happened to:

i am so obsessed w pinkham's law it's not even funny

Brace yourselves, everyone.

Welcome back to Behind Closed Ovens, the BIZARRO EDITION:

Ugh, I hate the people who are just impossible to explain anything to. I had a conversation about pesto this week that went like this:

Ugh, some of these employees have so much attitude. If you're unwilling to do things just because they're logically impossible, maybe customer service isn't for you.

Please let it end with Zim winning everything! I want to see he him finally conquer those PATHETIC HOOOMANS! And he should finally get one over on the rest of the Irken too.
