I bet the driver wasn't a log-cabin Republican

No thanks. I'll take the ZL1. At least I know when I give the dealer a deposit he/she won't run off with it.

Slim jim purchased from a gas station

I think you mean "hydroformed"

As awesome as this is, the dog has a "why are you doing this to me?" look on his face.

In Soviet Russia, car gives YOU burnout

Congrats on your COTD. For your eyeball-singeing pleasure, I present you with the Gremalibur, an unholy union between a Gremlin and an Excalibur.

That also pretty much sums up my first year of driving, except substitute the '78 Cougar with a '78 Olds Cutlass, and substitute Nebraska with Miami.

I attended the University of Miami in the early 1990's. The most understated vehicle driven by a football player there was a metallic lime green Mercedes S-class. Of course, the football team could park wherever the hell they wanted on campus without fear of getting ticketed or towed.

I suspect only ferriners would vote CP on this. If you are a U.S. citizen and voted CP, then you should have your citizenship revoked.

My first car was a 78 Olds Cutlass Supreme kinda like this one pictured with the 260 (4.3L) V8 gas engine with AT (of course). In spite of the nostalgia factor and as cool (hot) as this car it, it's about four times too expensive, so I'm going to give it a reluctant CP.

Ring time?

When I read the post, this came to mind (from Wikipedia):

Escalade

BMW 3-series convertible

As much as I love 80's Japanese performance cars, this one has arguably the worst styling of the lot, and at $5,000 is wayyy too much kwon. $3000 tops is more appropriate.
