I have done the same thing.

"Creeping Death," off ride the lightning would be good for the low level video if I had to pick a Metallica song.

I am just glad it's not a new Metallica song, or that AWOL nation song "Sail." I kind of like how it doesn't exactly match up either, it's an interesting juxtaposition.

These videos are great. These guys really raised the bar for squadron videos a few years back when grizzlyball first started posting them. The VAQ guys have better taste in music than the USAF pilots.

The legacy hornet is one of the best pure air to air platforms in the world. Anecdotally at least, according to guys that fly them.

I wish these guys had better taste in music.

This was one of the cooler things to come out of chrono trigger.

Two awesome long form posts in one day? You spoil us.

You make a good point but the a-10 is relatively cheap, at 4.2 billon over 5 years. I agree that we need to make cuts though., and cutting the a-10 would make more sense if it cost more.

This is a fairly interesting video on the subject. It's clearly just marketing fluff, but it is informative in it's own way.

My cat is named f-14.

He wasn't the only one who "designed it," though. There was a group of people and he was involved. The guy is smart and makes good points but he's just being dogmatic and lamenting the death of pure air to air knife fighting.

I loved watching "Wings Over The Gulf," when I was growing up. They had a certain kind of production value that made them really cool. Maybe it's just nostalgia, but I can still watch a lot of it today and be really entertained.

This is a hypothetical with the proposed f414 EPE engines that bring the T/W up to something like 1.1 from .90-ish, which brings it up higher than the legacy hornet which is no slouch in power and maneuverability.

Growlers are awesome. One of the reasons why I think more Super Hornets is a good idea, to keep production open to make more growlers. I feel like they're a good insurance policy if all this LO stuff doesn't pan out properly.

Parasitic drag makes transonic performance a problem for like every supersonic capable aircraft ever made. Besides, you're missing the point, or ignoring it just to argue. The point is, the plane will primarily be purchased to FLY CAP IN THE CANADIAN NORTH.

It's not underpowered. At all. Do you work for Lockheed or something? the f414 is a good engine.

I think more attention needs to be paid to the fact that control of the EM/RF spectrum is more important than low observability on the x-band is. Especially in an austere fiscal environment. ESPECIALLY when you're Canada and you won't be striking anyone first, so the element of surprise isn't as important. I think

There is nothing fundamentally wrong with the hornet air frame other than the pylon issue. The f-35 is just too expensive for a limited feature set. Its like buying plasma TV in 1997.
