I imagine it must be fairly common practice. I recall reading that the Subaru SVX test mule was an old XT-6 for example.

Yah, that was my first question about the VW L1, being all fulla carbon fiber. When I heard they would make a consumer production run, I wondered how they would make such a carbon fiber-intensive vehicle affordable. The answer, of course was that they didn't. It's really expensive to to be so cheap.

Green balls o' magic!

Everything is hydraulically operated, from the sunroof to the windows to the suspension to the reclining rear seats is incredibly difficult to work on. The mineral oil it runs on is pressurized to 3200 psi. If a line breaks, the fluid can cut into you like a knife. If you put the wrong fluid in, the entire system will

Sounds familiar.

There's also the "born broken" '81-'84 Cadillac v8-6-4 which never worked well and only made a little over 100 horses on all 8 cylinders.

True. I suppose it matters a bit how you measure "worst". Worst quality, things like Citation/Cimarron and Vega. Worst designed sheet metal goes to things like Aztek (fortunately, "things like Aztek" is a one-car category.).

The question was worst, not ugliest. I would think the Citation would be a good candidate for worst.

But Vega is a star!

Prices for 70's Japanese cars have gone nuts lately. Not as nuts as 60's muscle cars, but in bang-for-the-buck measure, they're way nuttier.

Would it be plastic from the mid 70's though?

Wow, it has mass but no dimension. Automotive singularity?

Hm, sounds a bit like going out to dinner with a gluten free person.

OUTERSPACEMOTHAFUCKAS!!

It is a tricky situation to be sure.

Don't be a yutz. PETA is just being PETA with their usual schtick of sour-faced huffing and puffing, overly informal, trying for chutzpah, but looking like schmendricks.

Hard not to like these guys.

It's Putin and his oligarch friends. They just want to steal Ukraine and plunder it, finishing the job Yanukovych started. Regular Russians are just trying to lead a normal life in spite of the entrenched corruption.

Still waiting for Subaru's AWD hybrid sports car with a turbo 2.0 powering the front wheels and electric motors in back. It could be super efficient, running electric only for short distances, adding regenerative braking, but then if wicked performance is needed, the engine power can be instantly, seamlessly

All the Russians are lucky who don't get hit by cars. Seriously, it looks crazy over there.
