Well... No, but fair point. It is a flawed movie, but it’s delightful and I like it. Point being, Emmerich is at his best when he’s totally divorced from reality, which is why he should avoid history and science.

It’s a test, kinda-sorta like the Bechdel test. If your main female character could be replaced by a sexy lamp, you’ve got a poorly written female character.

I know. That doesn’t make it any better. The important (disturbing) thing is that he believes it.

It’s Roland Emmerich. The guy who made a movie about how Shakespeare didn’t write Shakespeare and the guy who actually wrote Shakespeare was the bastard son of the Virgin Queen and later accidentally had incestuous sex with her.

That was (kinda) my first thought. Roland Emerich, whose main traits are that his explosions are fantastic and his history is wildly inaccurate, is doing the Stonewall movie? Why? Didn’t Anonymous indicate that he can’t be trusted with stories of people who actually existed?

Or does literally now figuratively mean literally?

I heard movie theatres skew cold because they want to make sure no one falls asleep.

An afro - naturally textured hair that fluffed/ picked into shape.

Did they somehow forget that this is not a new thing? That there are white people whose hair does this naturally (mainly Jewish and Irish, in my experience)? And that it’s just called “really curly”?

Why are prenups considered unromantic? I mean all they really do is acknowledge the possibility that you could divorce, but you’re an adult and should know that anyway. People change. Relationships can be stressful. Why is admitting the possibility of failure considered a weakness?

Thank you!

I agree, that’s the “painstakingly deciding which are going to the used book store” bit. I guess I think of sorting through old books as more of an event, and I think of “decluttering” as getting rid of big stuff that doesn’t justify the space it takes up.

PS Who the heck gets rid of books when decluttering? They take up next to no space and are super easy to store! I could maybe see putting a bunch in a box to go away for a while if you need more shelf space, but just flat out getting rid of them (unless they’re yours and you’re painstakingly deciding which are going

What is a “menstrual belt”?

1st thought: Man this guy fucked up

So I know nothing about her personality beyond this video, but I think I love her for calling out coding. I can’t even count the number of stereotypes she broke with that statement. Hell. Yes.

Oh I agree, that’s my point. It’s unhealthy (regardless of gender or age), but only in the way that lack of sleep or a caffeine addiction is unhealthy; it’s super common and shouldn’t be regarded as a big deal 99% of the time. In other words, it’s not an excuse to disrespect anyone.

Well, I’ve known a few singing and vocal coaches and they’ve all agreed that it’s not good for you from a health perspective, but it’s not much worse for your voice than whispering harshly or not drinking enough water or getting enough sleep (and not even as bad as smoking or drinking hard liquor), and only really

Oh, I missed that bit about it being live, that does make a difference. Still, she does a ton of live shows, and most of the acting for that role is really just emoting properly while singing.

Eh, it might work? Acting in a musical, even one adapted into a movie, is not like acting in a normal movie. You can be a little more ham-y, a little less subtle and nuanced. Plus this is kind of the perfect role for her, Glinda isn’t on stage for that long and just needs to sing and be glorious.
