Did someone at least nominate the Cadillac V16? It's one of the few engines that actually was styled. And the LS based 16 in the Sixteen show car ain't bad either.
Chris, a year ago I did a post at TTAC about DeLorean documentaries and mentioned how I was surprised that nobody had made a feature film about JZD. I was later contacted by someone in LA who told me that they were one of three different groups working on DeLorean biopic projects. Even without the cocaine charges and…
James, you said you hope to drive it from NY to Daytona. How are you going to register it for the road here in the States? What will the SCG003's legal status vis a vis Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards?
Great story, though while in England they may drive McLaren M1Bs at events, in the Detroit area, they drive them to events. Check out the license plate, it's street legal. It's the first M1B that raced and the first McLaren with a Chevy engine, raced by McLaren himself, Phil Hill and Chris Amon, taking 3rd in the 1966…
I'm happy that Ole Schell made the cut. Here's a review that I wrote about another automotive film he did, The Sunday Morning Drive, a fictional piece about an Audi R8, 40 sportbikes, a supermodel and the Pacific Coast Highway. He shot it in 3D with the help of Sony and GoPro but also released a 2D version.
Considering I own both a 987 Cayman S and Evora S I can say that the Evora is a much better handling car while providing a smoother ride at the same time and is faster (at last for me) around the track. The Cayman is a pretty built-proof car that's hard to disagree with but at the end of the day I'd pick the Evora…

This documentary gives Ralph Nader way too much credit and teaches us nothing about the actual history of the airbag, failing to mention Eaton, Ford and GM's role in its development (preferring instead to genuflect to Nader). It's a shame that it doesn't give credit to Eaton executive William Carey, who championed the…
I wonder if the four piston disk brakes on the front of the '69 SC/Rambler will fit. Here's a '62 Rambler American convertible I see at Detroit area shows. It's for sale too:
Under what statutory authority does the FAA have the power to tell owners of private hangers what they can store on their property?
Lee Oskar is a great harmonica player.
Nice video but why on earth did they use the Elan +2 for a comparison? The Miata was styled after the Elan roadster, not the +2 (which I've always thought looked kinda funny). The green car below is a Series 1 Elan, the red & white car is a Series 3 Elan.
There seems to be a consensus among XJ fans that the best looking vintage XJ was the Series III version. That update was done by Pininfarina and it's masterful.
There's no such thing as "public money". It's all taken (at the threat of jail) from taxpayers.
At least he didn't shoot it.
Polaris filed for patents on the vehicle some time ago. The drawings show a couple of different body styles, and the technical drawing do look like a GM Ecotec motor.
1956 Continental Mark IIs are underpriced, so are 1955-56 Packards (except for the Caribbeans). I'd say the Lotus Elan belongs on the list too but good ones now can fetch $40K now that respected car guys like Gordon Murray and Jay Leno have sung their praises. Over time, though, I still think the Elan will appreciate…
A MIT spinoff called Levant Power has been working with ZF on regenerative shock absorbers with the brand name of GenShock that allow the implementation of active suspensions besides energy harvesting. Audi may be using those. http://www.thetruthaboutcars.com/2013/08/zf-and…
