Andrew, all that is true but I don’t think it’s just about commerce. The McLaren folks strike me as genuine car guys who are proud of their work. If it means that someone as low on the pecking order as I am gets access, I’m certainly not going to complain. As for making one sick, I indeed got motion sickness running…
He’ll have fun. Truly extraordinary car.
No, those had style, grace and class.
When McLaren P1s, Porsche 918s and LaFerraris sell out almost as fast as $2 million Koenigseggs, brands like Bugatti have nothing to fear as long as they can keep on offering more.
And here I thought it was a video of a busted U-joint. I guess sometimes a driveshaft is more than a driveshaft... a cigar maybe?
Somehow I think the Mercedes-Benz museum isn’t going to mention this:
If Elio had the kind of financial backing that Faraday claims they have, they’d already be in production.
Those features were available in the 1950s, but with the exception of the automatic transmission and power steering and brakes, they were generally only purchased on luxury cars. You can find plenty of Cadillacs and Lincolns from the early 1960s, particularly convertibles, that didn’t have air conditioning. Power…
Yes, according to NASCAR his lap belt failed - in his defamation lawsuit against NASCAR, which was settled out of court, Bill Simpson said Earnhardt’s belts weren’t installed properly. The one issue that people dance around is Earnhardt’s own role in his death. His widow and NASCAR kept his autopsy results from the…
I’ve had a beard most of my adult life and sunlight has never seen my upper lip since puberty. My beard can get a bit wild when it gets long but sometimes I’d like the tell some hipsters to get a trim.
Seconded.
Video I shot of the Mustang in Ford’s wind tunnel. Click on the settings icon in the YouTube menubar to select 2D or 3D format.
Great comment. Do you know if early automotive aerodynamicists like Paul Jaray and Edmund Rumpler worked with wind tunnels? As an airplane designer, Rumpler must have had access to the tool.
There was plenty of open road, the bike was much faster than the cop car and there was obviously no attempt to elude. Cop lies and gets promoted. We have such fine public employees in America, always altruistic and never out for their own good.
The chrome trim on the mirror supports caught my eye with its shape. I think it’s an elegant touch. Also, the fender badge that says Continental, particularly on the car that was upstairs at the Lincoln display, looks billet solid. In general, I think it’s a handsome car.
My, you’re being awfully defensive about a simple question. Why don’t you want to answer the question? Is there anything you love about America.
Is there anything you love about America?
Chrysler’s 1940 contract to build tanks and the factory to build them in had four percent profit margins. Undoubtedly there was some profiteering and cronyism during WWII. Bantam not getting the production contract to build the jeep they designed was likely the result of Henry Ford pulling strings.
Cadillac V16, both the production one from the 1930s, that was styled by Harley Earl’s team, and the one in the Sixteen concept which was styled after the original.
