Appreciate that, I’ll give that a read for sure.

In his writings, a wise Italian

I’ll give you that. I think are about four of us (maybe 10, based on the stars on your post) who still agree with that statement! And those contradictions – particularly ecologically – are going to be the motivating debates in the community for years to come...

Seems like few credible voices who advocate raising the gas tax have a good work-around for that inherently regressive nature. Credits, exemption...all fine ideas but any of the simplicity we’re discussing goes away as soon as you try to fix the fundamental unfairness of it. And ask the French what a proposed increase

As long as the oil housing gasket needs to be replaced, it counts as a member of the BMW family.

Co-sign. Sometimes I consider just loading up an old iPod classic as a max-storage player for when my iPhone totally runs out of space. Being at all wifi-reliant for my music bothers me, and I know you’re able to download stuff, but that isn’t the same as having everything at the ready.

Just out of curiosity, which blogs do you keep up with lately? I’m always a little bored by Autoblog, never got into the Drive stuff, and my subscriptions to C&D etc. lapsed a while back (embarrassingly). Always looking for other places. I don’t patronize them, but I can imagine the classics sites being deeply

Really is stunning the seeing the weight numbers laid out, the issues with mileage from that limited displacement. To think we put all this investment into a technology that got us nowhere...

Not sure what you’re being so aggressive about? I tend to agree with most of the points, it’s just a matter of describing the site.

I mean look, I always found Autoblog too dull to read seriously, and of course nothing exists in a vacuum. When it comes to infrastructure, politics are absolutely unavoidable. Having said that, seems kind of weird to me that we have to pretend nothing has changed. I may be okay with the changes – hell, I certainly

Meh, I’m not even imparting a value judgment – it’s not like it’s better or worse – I’m just noting that the balance has shifted. You don’t have to read me the riot act on how to use the site. I’m perfectly happy with most of the political articles, like I said. But why kid ourselves? Maybe it was 80-20, now it’s

Lol, you really leaned into the dickish thing. When you say “This is what Jalopnik is,” with that definitive angle, it does become a pretty totalizing statement. And that’s what’s a little bit ahistorical. I was just saying you should give the guy a little more rope.

I just don’t see the need in pretending Jalopnik hasn’t shifted a lot, because it has. It’s shifted in a political direction I tend to emphatically agree with, but we’d be kidding ourselves to say it was always like this.

I think we should be less dickish on this stuff. For example, I completely agree with this article and think it’s totally right. I’m about as pinko commie as they come, so this type of sociopolitical history is right up my alley. But I also empathize with the notion that you want a few places on the internet not to be

Same. And that is a hilarious thing to be cranky about, but fully allowed.

Surely there was a mature way to praise this piece without taking a shot at some of the other writers.

Crack pipe.
Original Smart Brabus maybe, Smart with a stick definitely, this not so much.

Wow, okay, that is totally interesting and I stand corrected. I was completely under the impression that younger people moving to Texas were skewing left, which it sounds like is essentially a talking point the right-wing candidates are using to fundraise.

Yeah, definitely varies by location. Here in NYC I basically wear a mask outdoors as a political gesture and for other people’s comfort. Never seen any convincing data that outdoor transmission actually drives cases, but in a big crowd of people you can definitely help everybody’s peace of mind by wearing one.

The late comedian Louis CK had a hilarious bit about that.
