In 1997, just out of college got a brand-new Eagle Talon TSi AWD. Great looking car, fairly reliable, good sound system for the time. With all-weather tires was quite competent in the snow.
Airbags were an option, I’m quite sure they had rear drum brakes, probably the same metal (too fancy for coat hangers). Other that that, I think they were the same, just as if time stood still.
