It cost VW $25 Billion and criminal charges for 550,000 cars. GM has 705,000 trucks with big engines. Mathematics say +$30 Billion, reality says no more than a billion while admitting no guilt. 2 - 3 low-level engineers may go to prison.

For the record, the soft gel coating on Ferrari’s from the late 90 - 00's have this issue too.

Once on a flight from Seattle to DFW, I was reading a car magazine, in one of the articles there was a large picture of Jim Clark in his F-1 Lotus. An older gentleman seating next to me said “That is Jim Clark, I raced against him a few times”. Ofcurse that peaked my interest and started chatting.

They even use “turbo charged” for laundry detergents, microwave food, lawn products, etc. To the average consumer Turbo = Big, Fast, More, Better...
