“the real Toth-Ra possessing the fake one”

Werewolf by Night is a Marvel comic. It has nothing to do with Sabrina or the Groovie Goolies. Apparently the “PEP Comics” in that link is a Dutch importer of American comics, unrelated to the MLJ/Archie Comics title that introduced Archie.

I was never aware of the Funky Phantom in my youth. I was only 3-4 when it aired and I never saw it in reruns when I got older. Plus I was more a fan of Filmation than Hanna-Barbera.

I did a search for “PEP Comics Ghoulies” and didn’t get any results. So I don’t know what you want me to check out.

I’m not surprised. The Groovie Goolies are fairly obscure. I only know them because I was a kid at the time their reruns were airing in syndication. I wouldn’t expect the young whippersnappers doing closed captioning today to recognize the reference. (If it wasn’t a coincidence, but it would be a surprising one if it

I suspect the gang at Jughead’s new school is not the Ghoulies but the Goolies — a nod to Filmation’s Groovie Goolies, a monster-based comedy-variety-musical show that was a segment and later a spinoff of their Sabrina the Teenage Witch Show. Between that, the drug Jingle Jangle (named for a song from Filmation’s The

I’d like to think that, on Earth-19, Shaq was sainted for his work as an armored superhero.

But the landing we saw was uncharacteristically perfect. I mean, when Donald panicked and buckled up before the landing, everyone looked at him like he was being foolish for believing they were about to crash, but if Launchpad McQuack is flying the plane, that’s by far the most reasonable response.

I’ve never liked Donald Duck and I’d be happier if he weren’t a regular in this. But I admit, the show is making his character more palatable than I’ve found him in the past, even though he still has one of the worst and most incomprehensible character voices in cartoon history.

One odd detail: The musical motif for Toad Liu Hai was strikingly similar to Ron Jones’s Beagle Boys theme from the original DuckTales. Maybe a subtle hint that he was up to no good? If so, it’s a pretty odd one. (And it just underlines my regret that they didn’t bring Jones back to score the show. His music was my

“Medusa is humanized and becomes just a hair more sympathetic”

“When Bannon mentioned the 25th Amendment, Trump said, “What’s that?””

Amaya didn’t summon a herd of elephants; there was one each of several different species, some quite deadly. It’s a power upgrade for her, but we saw her granddaughter do similar things in the Vixen animated series/movie.

Sure, maybe she kept the accent as an affectation, but it was such a beautiful accent that I really don’t care.

There are other ways an American can pick up a foreign accent. I knew a girl in high school who was from Massachusetts (I think) but who spoke with a beautifully posh English accent, because she’d been raised by an English nanny.

People have short memories — the term “fake news” first came to prominence last year in reference to the fabricated news stories that Trump’s supporters (probably including the Russians) were spreading about Clinton and the Democrats. These stories were always quickly exposed as fraudulent and so the term “fake news”

Katie McGrath is Irish.

I imagine there must be some animation fans of a certain generation who were excited to learn that Mark Hamill was in Star Wars but surprised or disappointed to find that he was playing a good guy.

Well, the comics brought back the Joker’s original murderous menace in the 1970s, and Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns in 1986 escalated the Joker to a mass murderer, a precedent the comics tended to follow thereafter. So it’s not like B:TAS invented that version of the Joker. On the contrary, B:TAS took the

Hamill could’ve probably made a good Clayface. After all, Ron Perlman did a great job as B:TAS’s Clayface, and I’ve heard voice roles from Hamill that sounded similar to Perlman, or vice versa.
