@dm123: Reunification - they absorbed a bunch of fallow minded victims of left wing politics. That was bound to leave a mark.

@dm123: True. What the hell happened?

I would buy that car if it was within 200 miles of me.

The Audi A5: It looks like it is trying to swallow a Trane heat pump.

@CUL8R: The Defender 90 represents an interesting trip through the Land Rover mine field. Series Land Rovers are now chump change and used Range Rovers and Discoveries are almost worth their weight in scrap, but the Defender 90 and Defender 110 have at least held to MSRP. The 1993 NA Defender 110s have already

@CUL8R: If I had to get an automatic, and lets not even think about what that would entail, I would get an automatic. No delusions for me, and automatics work better and longer. Getting a couple hundred thousand miles out of a quality automatic involves changing the fluid. Owning a DCT after the warranty ends is

@treefiftyz: But there is no difference between a DCT driver and an automatic driver. After less than a week, the paddles are ornamental.

They could do away with the caution flag rituals. Transponder technology is such that they can figure out who is on what lap. What a revelation it would be if the pits were just open to everyone at all times. Every time there is a caution, they could impose a speed limit on the whole track until the track is clear and

@Maymar: How about we don't take money from people who don't buy expensive vehicles and give it to people who can afford to spend it on irrational purchases?

@calzonegolem: Personally, I'd return all regulations relating to vehicles to where they were in 1990. With modern materials and engine management, we'd have 2,000 lb cars that get similar mileage to the currently available diesel cars while running on unleaded and being fun to drive. There'd be no reason for hybrid

@OA 5599: I wasn't in favor of any subsidized car purchases, but at least current Prius buyers don't get one. How much is the hybrid premium on a Prius? I'd say they provide at least Matrix levels of utility. Playing around at the Toyota website indicates that a base Prius has about a $2K premium over a comparably

@Dr ba jones-was Quattro-luvr 'til he was Gawkered: The car magazines have lost any sense of integrity. Even when they do comparison tests, Car and Driver says things like, 'we feel that the Fusion would have been third even if there had been more than three cars in the test. It is that good!' They just don't have

@pmalik: It is 100 miles for a Prius, which doesn't involve taxpayer subsidized idiocy.

@TheTonyShow: I would do it and say, "I want my $7,000 back, you subsidized moron!"

The Volt is an excellent way for people with more money than brains to work on the balance between the two, foiled only by the government subsidies that force all of us to pay the idiot tax of ownership.

He would be old, sickly, and know about cars, so he would drive a Toyota Avalon.

@Roberto G.: Citroen GS, 2CV, and even the DS had provisions for hand crank starting. I'm having a hard time coming up with American examples, but there must have been one or two. Perhaps certin Jeep CJs or Crosleys had them.

@Roberto G.: This would be a good topic for the Hooniverse Encyclopedia series. I know that many eastern block cars had starter handles into the '80s, but I can't think of many US market cars that had them.
