technology is inherently iterative. it has to build on itself in order to improve. patent cases like this are prime examples of how f'ed up patent law is and how damaging it can be to competition in the free market.

I expected the creators of doom and quake to come up with something original and engaging. To me, the game was a mish mashed, watered-down derivative of borderlands,half life and fallout, coupled with a terrible racing/driving dynamic, boring weapons, and an awful, awful, awful ending (worse than ME3, IMO).

it's still an awfully disappointing game.
