Jerry Reed as the a**hole/establishment college football coach in “The Waterboy” was inspired casting, and of course he was brilliant in it.

Reviewing “The Waterboy” without even mentioning Jerry Reed’s great performance = missing the boat

“Ocean’s 8... is... a perfect... movie! Sandra Bullock... reveals... her... pleasure... in... the bathroom!”

Is it even possible to play softball without drinking and smoking?

Wait, it wasn’t a cut-off date thing?  I’m so confused... maybe it’s best that I go back to ignoring the Emmys. I’m sure the Emmys won’t mind - it’s not like they stay up at night worrying about whether old Smoot will tune in.

Whoops, never mind, I posted before seeing that “cutoff date was at the end of May” thing

“The Terror” is one of the best TV shows (or 8-hour movies, if that’s what it is) that I’ve ever seen, and Jared Harris’ and Tobias Menzes’ performances in it were two of the best I’ve ever seen in a TV show or 8-hour movie or whatever it is.

Actually his specialty is punching the faces of people who aren’t looking at him and have no idea he’s about to punch them in the face, commonly referred to as a “sucker punch.” He’s a sucker punch artist.

Now playing

And let’s not forget that Willians Astudillo gave us this:

He’s the man on the sideline of the game presented by Jefferson Pilot that’s on the local station that doesn’t come in HD

I don’t remember that - I do remember generally throughout the show Hank made racist comments to Gomie and played it off as “Gomie and I are such good buddies that he knows it’s all in jest, etc” but I wasn’t even thinking about that in my “Hank is not a good guy” take on the character

Right, but your “moral center” post was in the context of the original “true good guy” post and prompted my subsequent response.

My only point was that I disagree with your “Hank is a true good guy” statement but that’s just my perception. If you found him to be the moral center of the show then that’s yours. It’s just a discussion about a TV show I liked a lot, and hence a topic I enjoy discussing, but if “you’re nitpicking the shit out of it”

I don’t remember any of his exchanges with Marie as being cruel. Sure he was cranky because of the pain from the injury, etc., but I wasn’t even thinking about any of that. The instances of cruelty that I can remember are when he repeatedly punched the face of Jesse’s unconscious body (again, I can see a sucker-punch
