But words alone shouldn’t be met with violence, right?  I mean, it’s not like Chris Rock said “I’m going to come down there and hit Jada”.  He made a joke in bad taste; her life wasn’t being threatened, I think Will grossly over-reacted.  if he met words with words, it wouldn’t have been the issue that it is today.  

Smith’s speech and the crowd’s reaction is a reminder (along with everything since Trump came down an escaltor in 2015) of how easy it is to manipulate people.

Frankly I wish that Will and Jada would just go away. I feel about them the same way I feel about Kanye and Kim. For several years now we have had to hear about every detail of their lives from them. Just go away already.

And if Will ahd reacted apüportiatly - i.e. fough back with words - we’d all be talking about whether or not the joke was too tasteless. As is - if your respond to words with fists, you lose the argument by default.

Seems like a line is drawn between a choice they made, whether open marriage (really?) or good or bad choice of acting role, and a disease over which they have no control or choice.

Man, after the whole thing went down, I suddenly found myself hoping and praying that Will Smith would win the award 15 minutes later. Just to see the speech. I’m a little shocked at how well it received though.
