I utterly agree. My impression, however, is that the activist community — at lest, the pro-PrEP activist community — and the pharmaceutical industry tacitly collude to ignore the potential and still-unknown implications of long-term chemotherapy for prophylaxis.

Scraping off all the snail-horn sensitivity here, one is left with: PrEP is good. PrEP is neither good nor bad. It’s merely a means of providing a measure of protection from HIV for those who want to protect themselves from HIV and at the same time enjoy unprotected sex.

Miller is repugnant enough in his statements and actions. But “balding”? You’re better than that.

“infamously”? how so?

Mad Dog 2020? Ripple? Boone’s Farm? Where have you been?

Oh gosh, I was unaware that was how it worked.

Why is the The Root following this story?

Joan Didion did it first, and did it best, in 1967.

Would love to know what makes it such a terrible idea. Seems to me Morehouse sends out into the world each year a class of graduates exquisitely prepared for adult life except for one huge lapse: They’ve spent four, five or maybe even six years in a gender-specific bubble that bears no relationship to the very real

No brainer: Begin admitting women, appoint a few to the board of trustees, and join the 21st century..

What’s your citation for the assertion that he was at Lakin to gather data to legitimize his procedure? Freeman was a snakeoil salesman of the worst kind even to many of his contemporaries, and he desperately sought to promote his procedure by any means available. Remember, he also got the VA to perform more then

The writer shouldn't be allowed to write. He ignorantly and dangerously conflates nationality and race/ethnicity. He projects his idea of nationality on a culture that has an entirely different idea of nationality (i.e. his notion of nationality as a legal status and the more commonly held notion of nationality as a

He drew blood. He savaged his child's genitals. He left scars. Had he done that to you, you wouldn't press charges?

So, per Hamilton Nolan, editors are unnecessary and downright harmful, but...

Here's dumb: "I pointed out black-on-white murder to show how small an issue white-on-black murder is."

Yes, I did, and closely. You decry Flowbee, who is a avowed racist, by slyly engaging in that stupid tit-for-tat of "yeah, but white people are in more danger from blacks." And then, worse, say that you weren't saying anything by saying it, which makes no sense.

The sad and appalling thing is that you, Jezebel, Gawker, Fox, MSNBC, Melissa Hairy-Paris, et al, will scream yourselves blue in the face over outlier cases that signify little other than that their are still stupid racists out there who do stupid cruel racist things, and these people are white and they are black and

Capitalism is inherently amoral. What you deduce from that, vis a vis any resistance to employing gay players, is facile at best, but more likely, just plain stupid, befitting a grad school (or community college) seminar. Every team owner, general manager and coach could be utterly indifferent to their players'

A thug is a low-level gangster, a henchman, the grunt who does the dirty work for the crime bosses. Period. That's all it means. Until the term was appropriated by hip-hop pretenders to promote images of misogynistic, homophobic, racist black men in order to sell music, it had no racial connotations. It's ironic that

Even more irritating than the fat person is "that person," the entitled hot mess of self-involvement that gets on late for whatever lame reason with which the rest of humanity copes without incident, creates all sorts of rearrangement drama among those unfortunate to sit near said hot mess, then blames it on
