Other than tethering without paying for the carrier's tethering plan, which I would guess isn't a huge percentage of users, why would a carrier care if I jailbreak my phone? They're still getting their money from me regardless.

True, to a degree, but by referring you to a natural healer, acupuncturist, etc... they are losing your business. I or my wife have never had a doctor suggest I seek out a natural alternative. In fact, they usually try to deter you from it with FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubt)

Where did I mention anything about physicians making money from prescribing medicine? I'm just saying that doctors would prefer that their patients don't use alternative treatments because then they may lose business.
