FWIW, Bryan Fuller said months ago that the cast included an openly-gay actor, which Rapp is. That sounds to me like they’ve had at least some of the cast in place for a while.
I will admit to having had a crush on Anthony Rapp for 20 years, but “chiseled hottie” is not the first descriptor I would think of. If that was really their only goal, we’d have just heard about Lieutenant Matt Bomer.
I suspect he’s also the openly-gay actor they mentioned.

There are surely more undecided voters like me than of the other type, those civic-minded numbskulls who populate televised town halls and Frank Luntz focus groups because they are positive they will vote, but…

I had the same reaction when my home state of Virginia suddenly became a swing state in 2008. And now it’s not unreasonable to consider it a blue state. I never thought that would happen in my life time, let alone in eight years.
I (American here) was stupidly spoiled that she was the winner when her series started airing on PBS.
