My beat to hell butt mechanically fine Mazda B4000 is trembling. It overheated the other day and I was "this" close to turning it in on a Smart car. Then I realized that I like my ugly truck more than I would a new Smart car.

@mytdawg: Heart click for you.

This is not troubling in the least as the natural failure state of the Camaro is to impact objects sideways, backwards, or inverted.

@Saboth: What are you doing? I substitute your reasoned analysis with my more exciting one.

@imdstig: Yeah, the conventional wisdom is that it takes $10k to do a cheap v8 Miata (this doesn't include the car). This $10k Miata is already done, just need to fix the engine.

@Pessimipposaurus: Me too. The front quarter view looks pleasantly Jensen Healey-esque, no?

I voted nice price. Rebuild the engine, maybe throw on some aluminum heads (if not already there) and with a little setup and freshening you've got a fun track rat for ~$15k.

@brandegee: I'd add that I'm curious why the stock photos are of presumably European junkyards from the scrapped not-sold-in-North-America 'clunkers'.

I can't decide if these CARS ineligible "clunkers" in dumpsters is due simply to marketer stupidity (no Corolla/Prizm is eligible) or if it is a Machiavellian scheme to lure folks with old junky cars to come on the lot looking for a deal.

I so hope this car works out for GM. They've got some good engineers working there so I'm reasonably confident of success.

Since it is 145 degrees here in Seattle, I'll toss this forgotten but not missed experience into the ring: Vapor Lock.

M3 shmem3. Dare I say it? I can't wait to see what this does on the 'Ring.

The '93 is singing like a siren to me. "Buy me, take me motoring on spirited excursions through the Cascades. I'm practical, look at how much loot can fit in my boot. You know you want to... I'll even let you install roof bars so I can support your 'active lifestyle..."

1987 Mr2 t-top in White. She loves that car as much today as she did the day she drove it off the lot.

@Dhillaz 2.0: I love my 9000 Aero. I hope Saab can get back to their mojo of practical quirkiness with questionable style, and occasionally blistering acceleration. This new thing would struggle to be useful on a trip to Ikea.

I'm glad to hear the stability control is not overly intrusive. Miatas are wonderful cars to toss down windy roads. I'm glad to see the Sports Suspension as a standalone option. Is this in addition to, or in place of, the MS-R package?

Zut allors! Peugeot is the greatest LeMons car ever conceived! I say Pug for IOE (and overall win) and a total of 1789 laps for a Bastille-rific prediction.

Such a hideously wonderful car. I want one very badly.
