I live in Guangzhou and can speak Mandarin and Cantonese. To non-Chinese the difference in the pronunciation would be almost unnoticeable, and yes the average non-Chinese has almost never heard of any of the other Chinese dialects besides these 2.

The pronunciation of "fried noodles" in Mandarin and Cantonese are almost the same. No one cares about any of the other hundred Chinese dialects generally.
