Good for them! Remember when the previous Pope, Palpatine er, Benedict was getting ready so sic the Inquisition on US nuns because they were too liberal? And because the Vatican wanted to steal their stuff?

The logical thing to do in terms of harm reduction, civil liberties and protecting victims would be to make prostitution legal, but buying sex illegal. So a John can be prosecuted, but not a prostitute. Thus it would be safe for victims of sex trafficing to go to the cops since they can’t be arrested for something…

You suck it up, and then you leave. Sometimes strategic retreat is the only sensible approach.

I used to work for a boss who was a sociopath. She had all the power (up until the day I politely quit), and really the only thing that worked was a sort of polite, low-level passive aggression. Smile, keep your mouth shut, but do not yield anything you don’t have to. Ever.

Well, you had to be connected to the right-wing media to see that stuff, but they harasses the parents of those dead kids and had all kinds of conspiracy theory shit about how it was all a false flag to try to get gun control.

People who are desperately trying to get care can’t get themselves committed. The families of suicidal kids often can’t manage to get them committed for a week of treatment. That’s because our mental health infrastructure is in utter, complete shit shape. I used to work in a pediatric hospital that had inpatient units…

I mean, they got away with going after the Sandy Hook families... They may get away with this in the end, too.

I mean, it was really so you could hold off the Indians, or in some cases, keep your slaves in line. So there’s that.
