I’m in my thirties and I absolutely love getting older. Every year I get more comfortable with myself and enjoy life more. I find more things that interest me and I know what I am and what I am not. It’s magical.

My childhood was constrictive with strict parents that never let me go anywhere, forced me to do things I didn’t want to do, and shamed me constantly for not measuring up to other kids and their accomplishments. Adulthood wins by a MILE. Bonus: you’re not fucking broke all the time.

I’ll likely avoid participating in most of the polls for similar reasons. My childhood was awful, and many of the topics being addressed are not applicable to me.

Oh god yes. The feeling of having no control over my own destiny was deeply painful as a child, and it STILL bothers me. I think probably 75% of the arguments I’ve gotten into with people in my adult life have arisen from me being over-sensitive about feeling like someone was trying to control me/tell me what to do.…

The real loser to both of those is being a teenager.

To be real - being an adult HANDS DOWN because my education won’t be affected, I have a good job that pays well and has great healthcare, and I live in a blue state. So I have tons of privilege as an adult is what I’m saying.

Yeah, this seems to boil down to “Ignorance is bliss” vs “The power to make my own decisions”

Personally, childhood sucks. All my fondest childhood memories involve activities intended to help me escape the realities of life. Adulthood is hard, but it also rules.

I’m definitely rooting for Adulthood in this game!

I also work in a higher ed admin role and I’m literally the only man in my department. Not sure who’s striking but depending on how thorough the saturation is there may fewer than 10 people here tomorrow. Women RUN the modern universities.
