Didn’t know I needed this until I saw it. Thank you!
Changes to canon don’t generally bother me unless it fundamentally changes a character’s definition and journey.
Argh, a video? C’mon io9, keep it useful! I’m about ready to throw in the towel.
Praisins. Why is aunty’s chicken salad amazing? Praisins. What raises the punch to the next level? Praisins. What’s made this cider-braised pork so heavenly? Praisins.
One thing to bear in mind is that there used to be infrastructure around hats. Hooks and racks and coat/hat check booths were everywhere. This isn’t the case today. Some high end restaurants have a coat/hat check, but don’t expect it as a norm. So, where do you put your hat? If you’re not at a table, it goes on your…
Thank you for not going down the “Tiki = rum” path that so many people do. Even though rum is life! (Yes, and gin is life, and scotch is life, and... ok, yes, fine, I hear you.)
Yes, and most companies already have enough rifts.
We ended up naming our main rooms after rivers (1st floor) and mountains (2nd floor). I was not expecting the questions “Is Everest a river or a mountain,” or “So, Nile is upstairs, then?”
Yes, but a real alien blob of snot!
I liked the theme, in a Game of Thrones-meets-Star Trek sort of way. It’s like the composer wanted to go Trek and brassy, but the producers wanted it to have the GoT string sound. Better than Enterprise’s, but no competition for TNG, DS9, or Voyager. RIP Jerry Goldsmith, you’re a very tough act to follow.
Maybe CBS should have watched a few seasons of Faceoff?
I enjoyed it. Wife enjoyed it, #3 son enjoyed it. It just didn’t feel like Trek to me... or to any of us. To be sure, many of the required elements were in place, but the main one — the crew is a cohesive whole, living in a better world — seemed mostly absent. Except for the Captain. As it stands, much was driven by…
The Orville answers the question “What if Star Trek were populated by real people?”
This watch belongs on an OMNI cover. It’s iconic 70s/80s retrofuture design.
This deserves ALL the stars.
In teeny amounts, it can be good. Otherwise, there’s that tang of foot funk that builds and just doesn’t fit in.
Never really had the funds for a real cookbook when we started, so for years the #1 go-to was the ancient Better Homes and Gardens Cookbook, the Art of Chinese Cooking by the Benedictine Sisters of Peking, Dutch-Indonesian recipes from my mom, and handwritten recipe cards jotted down while I was watching shows on PBS:…
For those of us looking for Makrut limes with no luck, these are still called “kaffir” limes in many places. “Kaffir” is a loaded word, so fair warning.
It certainly does. The pilot was adequate, certainly no worse than many TNG season one and two episodes. Happy to give it most of a season to grow on me. Here’s hoping Fox keeps the time and the episode order in place.
