I see your point, and happen to agree with it: cloud storage is overrated, unreliable, unwieldy, and comparatively uneconomic, while local storage is underrated, reliable, convenient and comparatively economic. Why anyone would obsess over what amounts to $1-3 per day for a device that could dramatically improve their productivity is beyond me. Talk about false economy.
