@syaieya: Just in case I read that wrong, did you just defend GT5's virtual AI "drivers" because they weren't able to see beyond the virtual slope of their virtual racetrack and where actually "caught by surprise" as to the obstacle in their path which in turn led to their poor (read: none) reaction?

Without trying to poke fun at any one racing game or simulators in general, does anybody have a straightforward answer as to why damage modeling is almost always not simply overlooked but actually implemented just far enough to be so tragically laughable?

I wasn't actually the slightest bit interested in the 3DS, but damn, I'll buy it just for this and if Legends 3 will be at least half of what the first two were, it will still have been a worthwhile investment.
