I think we agree. The back of the rear wing has a low pressure zone, the air coming out of the diffuser meets the low pressure zone and is sucked up or into it, by design. This T wing might (or might not) create a larger low pressure zone extending the diffuser-rear wing low pressure zone.

If Hamilton is right about the aero effect in 2017 F1 might not be worth watching. Count me as a Ham Fan, I want him to win win win, but I would rather see racing during the race, Ham will come up roses either way, and we will have racing!
In the context of sporting entertainment this no racing thing is a big problem

If you look at the rear of the cars during a rain race you see that the past diffusers shot the air behind the car abruptly up, so much so that the back of the rear wing is designed to shape the air that exits the diffuser, two feet below. Its almost like there is no distance between the back of the car and the air

This car is either shit or none of the aero shell will remain by the first race. This year, it seems everyone else needs a much bigger air inlet in order to max the power and feed the turbo, but not Honda?
As for Le Mans, its all an effort to keep Alonso who says he wants to race Le Mans. Think about it, if McLaren

I am starting to think this T wing thing is all about helping the new bigger diffuser. At first I thought this was about focusing the air onto the rear wing but this wing is no wing at all, at least not an aero wing. This thing has no tapering front to back like a wing, it has no change in thickness, its just a flat

The Allen project will lift more then 300,000 lb. The plane on a plane (rocket on plane) system is the best answer with today’s technology.

Cost issues...

It would make for great drama. Do it in Australia if you can, I guess.

I think that pre rear wing is real, as in for racing. With so much of the aero being about conditioning the aero further down the car, this looks like a clever device to bring the air together pre rear wing and slamming the air down on the rear wing.
As we all have learned over the years, balance is the conceptual

It seems like the final shark fin shape is one of the items the teams don’t want to show off. The Force India fin was obviously a joke, as little as I know about aero I can see there is no way an aero fin would end at a long flat edge. My guess after seeing this new Mercedes (also fake fin) is that this is an area of

The simple truth is, in the USA NASA has a monopoly on the sexiest part of the space game, manned space flight, and its just this activity which gains NASA the greatest degree of PR which helps no end to getting funded. This new thing is not funded beyond 2020. While other private space programs want to eventually

I agree with much of what has been written in this story, but I differ too…
To me the first few shows sucked, they were fractured and unfocused, but after around the fourth show each episode became a much better complete package. When these guys were doing Top Gear they -Wilman - was directing most things and spending

Fewer “BLUE FLAGS”!

In the world of business many top ranked executives eventually get the brass ring of CEO and then fuck it all up, its a rare bird that innovates and makes things better like Bernie did. The problem with F1 is a mixed bag, once Bernie sold F1 to CVC the whole enterprise was frozen in an effort to guarantee a financial

I think you just cracked the nut! Your right!

Hamilton has never said or behaved like he wants to control the other drivers choice. I get that even if a driver says X they mean Y, we have yet to see this from Hamilton regarding this driver thing. If I were as talented as Hamilton I wouldn’t care a bit who they pick.

The 2017 engine no longer has any restrictions on development, there will be no token system. This is considered a substantial opportunity for the engine makers. We will see.

The Mercedes folks are claiming that they will not try to brake a contract on moral grounds. This is a big deal and when someone pulls this out of the bag I tend to think what they are saying is true.

Will Toro Rosso still have a year old Ferrari engine next year? If I were Sainz I’d do anything to get out if I had to drive a 2016 engine in 2017.

Vettel throws another hissy fit, this time about the choice of ice cream at races, Kimi says NO and Vettel kicks Kimi Raikkonen out of Ferrari. Some claim subterfuge! Kimi and Toto move quickly, and so it is, Raikkonen gets a one year contract to drive with Hamilton.
