Many cases of child sexual abuse, particularly within families, don't end up in criminal court. Sometimes this is because of concerns about the effect of trial on the victim. Sometimes it's because a DA doesn't think the case is winnable in front of a jury. Sometimes it's a combination of both.

I think what people are pointing out here is, if someone told you they were robbed at gunpoint, you wouldn't say, "Where's your evidence?" You would believe them. So why wouldn't you trust a woman or child who said they were sexually assaulted? I'm not being rhetorical - I think a lot of folks really need to answer…
