If he was barely meeting quota on a 56 as a DH, he wasn’t even in the top 100 NA. This article’s title is misleading as all hell.
It’s really not that huge of an issue if he plays as much as it takes to get to paragon ~700. You get drops that you don’t use, but still save sets of gear for replacement characters.
It happens to people all the time. It’s a risk you take, they have it server-side to mitigate cheating. I’d have to say, I’d rather lose a HC character or two over a HC Season to DC’s then have the ladder unable to climb because of trainers.

You say you’re a seasoned MOBA player, but this surprises you? Same stuff happens in LoL at the beginning of seasons. Sure, you ended in Plat 1, but you go 8/2 in the placements and get Silver 4. If you’re truly as good as you say you are, you’ll just get back up to Plat 1. It’s the “I deserve to be X rank” mentality…

Keep in mind that you have no HUD or NPC interactions viewable when in this mode. So if you didn’t want to go hardcore like LobosJr and not see ANY UI elements, you’ll need to toggle the mod on and off.
