I'm not sure why any vorearephile would be turned on by something as silly as this.

It really makes me feel a lot better to know that this crap is the status quo, and that these storefronts allowing junk like this to sell itself without question are doing absolutely nothing to set any semblance of a quality bar for mobile markets and smartphone gamers.

The fact that it got big and got all that attention is sure as heck a good reason to pitch a fit about it, but I'm mostly saying all this because apparently people legitimately think this is a good game and don't see the way it damages the industry.

I'm just saying that nobody should be supportive of this kind of thing. People like this guy bring nothing of worth to our industry. They bring terrible clones and ripoff games that in fact subtract a lot of value from the market. It's not entirely their fault for creating the bad games, as we SHOULD put the burden on

Of course he didn't actually steal assets. That's why it's not TECHNICALLY illegal.

http://o.canada.com/technology/gam… It's not about whether it's legal or not; obviously it is. But this is the kind of basic, uncreative, shitty thievery that absolutely disgusts me as a designer. He didn't create anything, from visuals to design. He ripped the assets from Mario, half-assedly making his own versions

Oh my god are you serious right now? I can't believe how little everyone realizes that this dude is seriously stepping on toes, here.

No.

This is the farthest thing you can get from an "honest buck" without actually breaking the law. This level of outright thievery of assets and game design (and such a poor recreation of what he's aping, at that) would make even CHINA blush.

I think what I'm getting at is that the generic FF style RPG is very much alive and well today. You're right that Square Enix hasn't been putting out FF games in Ye Olde FFe Stylee, but lots of others have been, especially in the indie scene and on handhelds this decade. It's the norm for RPGs and it's all over the

That's good to hear. Definitely a big boost to my interest for the game if they also let you control the difficulty. That was honestly one of the most compelling parts of TWEWY for me. Pushing myself and getting into strings of battles with my level turned way down and AI off made the game great, because I could keep

Probably just...

I get what you're saying but I'm not so sure your optimism is quite on the mark. People were FURIOUS when a Zelda game that was cartoony and colorful was shown off on the Gamecube, and all they really did to push things away from the many, MANY traditions of the series was to give it a new visual style. The game was

That's true. Actually, the biggest loss here was simply the games in development. That first-person shooter game where you play as Zero (I think?) looked amazing. It could have been the next Metroid Prime. (In terms of being a shooter that totally redefines what a shooter can be, anyway.) And Megaman Universe looked

That's not really a solution that addresses the problem at all, nor does it make anything better in theory. (again... going only off what I read, not what I've seen or played or anything else, just this article)

(Based solely on what I read in this article, bear that in mind...) This game is sounding like it's a little... broken, design-wise.

I've actually come to see the loss of Megaman as a good thing.

If you're looking for something to get sucked into, if you have a smartphone or tablet try looking into Puzzle and Dragons. It's the first game since Maplestory to get me addicted in that same way, to the point where I'm actually now scheduling my day around how I can get in on events and play around the limitations
