Africa is a continent, not a country. There are 53 countries in Africa and you can safely say that you'd go to none of them? If someone wanted me to spend a month in the Seychelles or Morrocco, I'd bite their hand off to go. It's your own ignorance that keeps you from being aware. The Maasai have been around for eons.

I was in Africa, in Tanzania, and I saw this woman with malaria, she had like flies all around her eyes. And she looked at me with this vacant stare but with a sense of endearing hope, as if to say that, 'despite are differences you and I are one'. AND THEN I CHUNDERED EVERRRRYWHARRRR!!!!!!!!!!

Yup,... I'm a native gal, and that's pretty much how I feel.

I do this about once a day. Mostly as a tribute to Mr. Bowie.

Pretty sure this was her training:

On the one hand, I literally cannot believe this book is real.

"How would Native Americans feel if someone showed up did a few sun dances, slept in a tee pee and then claims to be a navajo warrior or something?"

I would have paid good money to see that encounter.

I'm glad you posted this! As an Australian you hear little about what happens in your own country especially around indigenous happenings. Sometimes being just being aware can really help ones understanding.

I just tweeted this to mindy budgor.

And her grandma was a Cherokee princess too.

I bet she claims to be Cherokee as well.

And prominently displayed next to copies of "The Celestine Prophecy" and "Conversations with God"!

If doing good for people makes you feel good, there's nothing wrong with that. But don't you think it's a little disingenuous (spellcheck says that's right) to want to tell everyone about what a good person you are and to make money off of it? If I give a homeless guy 20 bucks, I'm not going to post on facebook

God, I'm getting flashbacks to this:

Really loved reading Rarin Ole Sein's thoughts on the matter, she was so spot on. When I first read about 'warrior princess' I was incredibly appalled as an anthropologist in training, and well, as a decent human being. Seriously, this women is extremely fucked up and I really hope her book tanks. Though sadly, I have

I had no idea about this entire phenomena, just one more thing to feel appalled at by a fellow white person. This kind of shit makes me embarrassed to be human sometimes, really. I am so glad to read Ole Sein's comments. It is hard to imagine anyone in her position feeling different. I think this book should be
