Actually, the biggest part of the RX-7 nightmare is the electronics, which just plain develope a mind of their own. Apex seals are cheap and easy.

The Porsche 914-4 the Porsche Porsche snobs wish would go away. The perfectly balanced mid-engined chassis was home to a very under-stressed 4 cylinder, there are no electronics to go wrong, and as long as the 901 transmission was taken care of, 914s will continue to roam the earth.
