Just looks odd to me, that along with the Y, actually look better in pictures than in person. The Polestar 2 looks like they were making a sedan, then made it into a wagon, but realized it should be a hatchback and then decided to lift it too. I am sure some of the trims look better, but every time I see one, I just

Hmm, that is interesting. I know an ‘07 and ‘13 are not the same, but mine already has an aftermarket unit in it (installed when new, FIL bought it) and a year or so ago my temp dial stopped working so I took it apart to solder the connection back together. Replacing with a new unit should be pretty plug and play. I

I fully, 100% agree with you. I was just explaining how easy it is to get normal people to buy into this trick and what I have seen parroted from people.

This is exactly it. Much like tech, it is expensive when it comes out and then gets quickly outdated and heads to worthless. Cars have more worth than old tech as long as they can get you places. But they suffer they same quick loss in value.

Solid amount of them for sale in the sub $25k range nationwide (160 on Autotrader). I guess it is a good deal if you can handle the looks of them. Same with this Ioniq 6, you can get a great deal, but can you handle looking at it two to four times a day? I guess you can get away with just twice if when you get out you

Depending on the car and its radio layout, you can upgrade to a Carplay/Android auto unit for not a ton of money. I am cheap, so I haven’t done it yet. But I am eventually going to get one for my ‘07 Highlander.

I agree with you on that. Just saying it is easy to frame some of the things money was spent on in a way that a normal, average person would then agree that some agency or department was spending “our” money on willy nilly and think getting rid of it benefits them in some way.

I feel the same way. I think there is an unfortunate side to it in that we realize these super and hyper cars are unattainable. But as kids or even teens, you think that maybe someday it will be possible, so you can dream about it. I still dream about these things to some extent, even if I know I most likely will

BOF is also much easier to lift and modify for off-roading than unibody. Honestly, I think it is more that making off-roaders BOF is better because the OEM’s can’t sell them in ultimate offroad trim and with unibody you kind of need to design them that way.

Easy, Ferrari Purosangue or the Lamborghini Urus.

Yes, exactly.

I completely get that. But in a budget as large as the US gov budget, there are always going to be questionable items and those are easy to get people that don’t understand riled up with. I won’t go into the ones I have seen, but I can understand why someone sees something and gets pissed.

While I overall agree with that, I know some of the things they are using as examples are real and true. So, it can be hard to find out fact from fiction and I am not going to take the time to look into it.

I live in MD, Bmore to be exact. So if I see a car with VA plates, I watch the hell out. I would advise you to do the same.

None of them. It is going to either be a pain or not improve anything since they weren’t engineered to have an electric drivetrain. Now, if you asked me what EV to swap in an ICE engine...I would also say none of them.

He got a stern talkin’ to and then promised too never do it again. But word has it, he had his fingers crossed.

I would agree with that as well. But Tesla’s MO is to just BS it all. Hell, they even BS their pricing by factoring some made up “fuel savings” into the “cost” of buying their cars, also not sure how that is legally allowed either.

Yep, completely agree. I haven’t looked into it, but they may be doing the old trick where you can trademark a “brand name” and then use it since it is defined elsewhere so you aren’t using the words in a literal sense.

Just realized I was also conflating the M1 with the 1M, stupid BMW... But I do agree with you though in that type of car, originality can be a key.

Yes, that is exactly what I was saying. They purposely use numbers that “sound” big on a personal level, but have no real repercussions on a national level. And once you go through a budget, you can always find little things to tout that evoke an emotional response. I will say, that if those little things didn’t
