Well with 28% APR, that part makes sense. Your first 2 years is like 95% interest.

I can remember three, I may have gotten one or two more, but not that I remember off the top of my head. One was not fully stopping before taking a right on red. One was taking a red on red where it wasn’t “allowed”, aka a “no right on red” sign. And the last one, I entered the intersection after the light had gone…
An 8 year old Mazda for $11k PLUS 27.9APR on a 68 month loan? HOLY SHIT...
I get that, but what do these speed cams accomplish other than generating revenue for the company and some for the city? What is the benefit outside of making money?
I will be honest; I am not going to go look at projections for them. But the rest of their financials don’t tell a great story to me. SG&A and R&D expenses have stayed flat to up moderately while other expenses have grown faster than revenue, which is growing very slowly. Their gross profit has gotten marginally…
I am not against traffic infraction enforcement, but I feel like it should be done with a real end product in mind. In this case, they have identified a problem, speeding in school zones. Then deployed a “solution”, speed cams. But even with the uptick in revenue generation due to the cams, they should have some sort…
Yea, it is a really shitty “solution” to a problem. I am all for enforcement on crap drivers. But the purpose of enforcement should be to correct the poor driving, not just generate money from it, especially in a school zone.
It’s fine, it’s all fine...
Man, China never fails to disappoint on the, “we’ll take that” designing.
I had an ‘86 190e as my first car in ‘05-’05, although it wasn’t “fun” in the real sense, it was a fun car overall. My second car was a ‘92 Miata that I bought in 2013, so that was my first true “fun” car.
I see a decent amount of Air sedans around me, but they just can’t seem to figure out how to sell cars and make money. The lost $3bn last year and are on pace for another $3bn loss this year. You can’t make that up in volume.
Yep, exactly. But, if this program (I guess?) was run correctly, the money generated from the tickets would go directly to improving or reengineering the road to stop it from happening. Then after that has been shown to work, you move to the next area that needs help. They could literally use the cameras to generate…
I honestly don’t like speed cams at all as I don’t think they really do anything, especially when you live close to another state or district (Hello DC!). But the fact that of the $50, the private company gets $33 is just insane. The money should mostly go to the city to then make the school zones safer, until ticket…
They will sell dozens of them! And don’t worry, they will lose money on each one they sell too!
Yep, similar build materials for sure. But one looks like it was designed as well as they could. The other, I don’t even know if we can call it designed. Looks more like they just made it as they went and when they got to the end, called it good enough.
I forgot just how terrible the interior on these things is. My ‘92vMiata was way nicer on the inside than that disaster
haha, you just have to login to submit your anonymous suggestion. You should suggest a box to put in suggestions via your online suggestion box.
Do you guys have an anonymous suggestion box at work?
Can we get the link to that VR-4? Or am I just missing it?
Yep, and at $6mm in three years they either had a bunch of people doing this, or they were actually good and getting paid as such. They won’t be going to jail, but Christina Chapman, she might not be having a real great time now or in the future.
