You may have overshot the “reasonable $100k budget” portion by a bit, but otherwise solid picks.

Yep, and even if it did get beat up on deprecation you can negotiate a lower buyout number at lease end too.
Yep, that is a great move. I used to dislike leasing, but after learning more, it is really just a hedge. Now, leasing for eternity is not a great idea IMO, but if you use it the way you are, it can be great.
Yea that is all true too. Gotta get those airline miles, some day he might be able to take a free $111 flight for 1mm miles!
I looked very quickly and found a few places that spilt would be around $1,200 each for 2-4 people. Not sure if there is a ton of savings there, but possibly.
Yea, they are all pretty bad. But some of these EV’s seem especially bad. Maybe I am wrong though.
I guess, probably didn’t know they would drop this much though.
Ughh, I don’t know why, but my brain read that as Perez for some very odd reason.
What tire did Sainz set his lap on? Assuming softer one as well?
Everything was really good from ‘20-’22 and prior to that, Tesla was the only decent EV in the game, sorry Leaf. Not a great sample size to actually know what their true value was.
I will be honest, I don’t know Vancouver (Shocker, I know). But in my quick search I found a bunch of places that were well less than he stated and even cheaper so if roommates were a thing.
Well in this case, paying for specific housing. I found a few apartments, including a whole house for around what he was asked to pay and well less if he had a roommate or two. Agree that it shouldn’t make more sense to commute via flying than live somewhere though.
Mostly agree with that, but trying to get work or stuff done on an hour long flight is a pain. Plus commuting from airport to campus on a bus, just seems like a lot of wasted time for minimal savings, especially if you factor in having a job and splitting an apartment with 2 or three roommates. Definitely situation…
He is saving that at face value, sure. Not sure how it all works out if you take more variables into account though.
Yes, that is true. But it doesn’t change the fact that they also depreciate terribly. Most EV’s have been pretty bad in terms of resale too.
MMMM, Fusilli, what a great sauce retention pasta type.
Expensive EV’s have terrible resale, just ask Lucid.
haha
3rd Gear: Their “profit” is all smoke and mirrors due to a debt agreement in Q3 worth $770m. Without that, they were still deep in the red.
If you live like a normal college kid you would have a or multiple roomates and then factor in opportunity cost of travel, it is about even or on the more expensive side. He still has roommates, they are just his parents.
