I think he's talking about the PZEV Focuses (Foci). They have a sealed airbox that's supposed to be a lifetime air filter. I've heard it can be as expensive as $300 to replace. I find BeamNG a little too spongy or floaty especially when body panels and the such are loose.

Lower the draw distance. It vastly improved my frame rate and removed all stuttering. I believe my settings for the draw distance is half of the max and I am still able to see as far as if it was maxed out. I wouldn't say the engine is unoptimized, but it is demanding.
